Take a tour of the new Marquis 500 Sport Bridge.

The Marquis 500 Sport Bridge is a new yacht made for people who recognize superior quality, insist on thrilling performance and enjoy cruising bathed in sunshine and fresh air. This is one of the newest offerings created through the collaboration of Nuvolari-Lenard Naval Design of Venice, Italy and Marquis, America’s premier yacht builder. The 500 Sport Bridge is one of five new models Nuvolari-Lenard and Marquis have introduced in the past several months.

“The Marquis Sport Bridge has been designed for people who may currently own a conventional, mid-sized express or flybridge style boat” said Robert VanGrunsven, Marquis President. “Many of these people have a strong desire to move up to a more distinctive, yacht quality vessel and a more prestigious brand, but do not want to sacrifice the open air environment and performance they enjoy with their current express cruiser. This 500 Sport Bridge fills this need perfectly.”

The design team at Nuvolari integrated their vast experience designing, styling and outfitting mega yachts into this 50’ Marquis. On the exterior, you will immediately notice Nuvolari-Lenard’s European inspired design influence. Sweeping lines that flow throughout the entire profile are created using Marquis’ special multi-dimensional fiberglass molding process. The shapes and style lines you see are molded into the hull and superstructure, not added on as independent components. This not only makes the yacht beautiful but also makes it incredibly strong.

Key features of the Sport Bridge design are its sleek, low profile and roomy bridge. Walk up a few steps from the cockpit to the open-air bridge and take your pick from multiple areas to sit or lounge including a large sun pad aft, port-side lounge with inclined backrest and twin custom bucket seats. An additional lounging place can b
e found on the yachts foredeck where an extra large sun pad is installed. The helm station includes plenty of space to install a full array of instrumentation including dual monitor Raymarine instruments which can be installed by Marquis.

On the yacht’s interior, high gloss Zebrano hardwood is used to build the cabinets, doors and bulkheads, and rich Brazilian cherry is used for the salon sole. Hardwood cabinet accents finished in a coal black, high gloss finish add to the distinctive styling. In the galley, cabinet surfaces are finished in shimmering metal flake silver and topped with substantial solid surface counters. Everyone who walks into the salon will immediately recognize this yacht as something special.

The floor plan is spacious and open. The dual salon bulkhead doors open wide to create an integrated environment from the swim platform, cockpit, salon, helm and galley. This roomy space can be expanded even more by pressing a switch that activates the motorized transom. This moves the transom, transom lounge and cockpit table aft 18” creating more space in the cockpit without sacrificing the utility of the extra wide swim platform. Within the salon, the folding leaf table can be adjusted to cocktail height or dining height by simply pressing a button. The flat screen television monitor incorporates an electronic actuator to raise and lower it from its hidden cabinet. The three stateroom, two head compartment layout of the lower deck offers overnight accommodations for 6 adults. Each head compartment offers homelike stall showers. Zebrano hardwood is carried throughout each stateroom along with upscale fabrics and designer selected furnishings.

As for performance, the 500 Sport Bridge gets it get-up-and-go from three Volvo diesel engines with IPS drives. The three engines are controlled by two control levers because the amidships engine receives its commands from an on board computer. These three engines automatica
lly synchronize themselves. The IPS joystick is perfect for slow speed maneuvering to precisely control the speed and direction of the yacht. With this type of control, you can actually power the yacht sideways to dock between two other boats, something that is unheard of in the days prior to IPS. While the 500 Sport Bridge has three engines, it is actually much easier to operate than twin engine boats with traditional controls and drives. The forward facing props and horizontal alignment of the IPS drives make them inherently more efficient than a traditional inboard configuration. Volvo tests have shown their IPS drives to be up to 30% more fuel efficient than a comparable inboard array.

When outfitted with Volvos Series 600 engines, the 500 Sport Bridge will skim through the water at 35 knots. With eye catching style, superior quality and outstanding performance, the new Marquis 500 Sport Bridge delivers the entire package.
