Carver has a reputation for creating people-friendly boats with unmatched accommodations and superior construction quality. The new Carver 44 Sojourn builds on this tradition and combines these attributes with Volvo IPS joystick-controlled drives adding superior efficiency and superb close-quarter maneuverability to the long list of things that a yacht built by Carver does better than any other brand.

The hull and deck lines of the new Carver 44 Sojourn are strikingly different than other boats in this class. The 44 was created with a design directive that established exterior and interior accommodations and efficient utilization of space as high priorities. You will immediately appreciate this when stepping onboard. The sizable transom platform adds security when boarding and debarking. Facing aft on the transom is a storage compartment that can be outfitted with a unique and comfortably upholstered seat; this compartment can also be used for fender, shore power cable and wash-down hose storage. You’ll notice that there’s no step to trip over between the swim platform and cockpit. Your walk to the boat’s foredeck is also safe and secure because the walkway is extra wide and the handrails are 7/8-inch stainless steel with double-welded bases. On the foredeck you’ll find a double-wide chaise lounge, automatic windlass and remote-control spotlight.

The Carver 44 Sojourn has the most spacious bridge of any boat in its size range. There’s bridge seating for at least 12 people so your guests will be able to enjoy the view from aloft while underway and dockside. The bridge also has a large, comfortable sun lounge. Add the wet bar, refrigerator and grill and you have an environment that’s equal to none other.

Step inside the Carver 44 Sojourn and you’ll immediately notice that the European-inspired interior is styled around a single level floor plan. There are no steps to navigate or hamper ease of movement. The salon is spacious and brightly lit by the numerous windows and aft sliding door. Various types of finely finished hardwoods are used throughout the yacht to provide a warm, contemporary atmosphere. To port is a sectional sofa lounge and to starboard a dinette that seats six and converts to a double bed. The galley is adjacent to the salon and is equipped with full-size refrigerator, convection microwave, two-burner cooktop, coffeemaker and numerous drawers and cabinets to stow provisions and cooking utensils.

Situated forward of the galley are the two staterooms and two head compartments. The master stateroom has a roomy island berth and the VIP stateroom features his-and-hers twin beds, giving this new yacht sleeping accommodations for six adults. For at-home comfort inner-spring, pillow-top mattresses are used in both staterooms. And, in true Carver tradition, there’s plenty of space to store and hang clothing and personal items for an extended cruise.

The new Carver 44 Sojourn has been designed to maximize the benefits provided by the Volvo IPS drive system. While underway, Volvo IPS drives provide improved propulsion efficiency when compared to traditional shaft driven systems. Combine this with a joystick-style control and the result is the utmost in slow speed, close quarter maneuverability. With IPS drives you’ll be able to dock the Carver 44 with a level of precision and confidence that you may never have thought possible.
