Water enthusiasts and boaters from all over the Sunshine State recently headed out to the 2nd Annual Toyota Tundra Marine SuperShow & Outdoor Living Festival, presented by Wave Magazine & WaveLife.com, at the newly revamped tropical Haulover Park & Marina. More than 300 new boats on display as well as a dozen or so new Toyota Tundras and Sequoias. In addition, the show offered the Boat Trader Pre-Owned Marine Marketplace, where attendees browsed nearly 50 used boats as well as pre-owned marine electronics and accessories. “We brought in the used boats this year so that we could truly have something for everyone, regardless of their budget,” says David Lowitz, Associate Publisher of Wave Magazine and the SuperShow’s director.

Also on site were RVs, custom-built golf carts, an arts-and-crafters village, great food, and drinks, live music and plenty of hands-on product demos. “The Marine SuperShow literally brings everything we cover in the magazine to life,” says Lowitz. “Wave is a lifestyle magazine…not a magazine that just features boating. This show mirrors the magazine, it’s all about enjoying the South Florida lifestyle, whether as a boater, or as someone who just enjoys spending time outdoors.” Says Julio Barroas of Bob Hewes Boats: “We feel the laid-back approach and atmosphere of the show brought in quality traffic, as it did last year — we’re looking forward to 2009!”
While the SuperShow will always be a boat show at its core, there’s also the “Outdoor Living Festival” portion of the show that was a big hit with show attendees. “We live in a unique part of the country where we can be outdoors living and loving life on, in and around the water 12 months a year,” says Lowitz. “Our show features everything from tikki huts to pools and spas and outdoor lighting as well as many other products that enhance the outdoor living lifestyle.”

Show attendees also enjoyed seeing the awesome two million dollar Miss Geico offshore power-racing boat and spending time relaxing and playing with their kids at The Miami Herald’s Kids’ Zone. The Florida Marlins’ Street Team, Florida International University, 560 WQAM, 99.9 KISS Country and Power 96 were on-hand to welcome and entertain visitors and fans with live broadcasts, giveaways and family activities.
“All in all, the show was a resounding success,” concludes Lowitz. “Our exhibitors were happy, the boat dealers sold boats and visitors were able to spend some quality time with their families under the clear South Florida skies.”
