LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

DOG LOVE
I saw the Wave boat at the Columbus Day Regatta in all its colorful glory. First off, I have to give you all kudos for being a boating magazine that actually “gets out on the water.” Now, I need your assistance. While I was at the Regatta I saw the most handsome man — this is the point where I should probably mention that I am a longhaired miniature dachshund girl — and had my human snap a photo of him. As I noticed that his human has a copy of Wave in their hands (see photo attached), I thought I’d send in this letter and see if any of your readers could tell me who this delightful red boy is. It’s much more difficult than you think for a boating dachshund girl to meet a delightful boating dachshund boy. Here’s to hoping!
— Olivia
Delightful Dachshund
Editor’s Response: Olivia, I must say this is the first non-human letter I’ve received. You must be a very smart doggie to be able to type such a grammatically correct letter. Unfortunately, I don’t know who your red counterpart is, although I remember seeing him dog-paddle from one boat to the other throughout the day. I’m sure if you go out enough, you’ll run into him again. In the meantime, I’ll keep my eye out for him and make sure to have a copy of this letter handy if we meet out on the water.
GOOFY ENCOUNTERS
We wanted to thank Wave for your exceptional coverage of fishing in recent issues. Your “Odyssey” and “Hooked” sections bring back a lot of great memories we’ve had while out fishing together. We love the thrill of the catch — especially when something unforgettable happens before, during or after what we think is the catch of a lifetime. One such example happened right after this photo of us was taken. We slipped when the camera flash blinded us. The fish fell on our faces and we’re still trying to get the stench off. Our mustaches no longer grace our upper lips. Nothing brings two men closer than some bait, a pole and the ultimate hook.

Fishing Friends
Editor’s Response: Wow, that was a quite the tale. Next time you might want to lure in smaller fish so they don’t overtake you so easily. I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying our fishing coverage and new sections. Check out the “Fantasy Fishing” article we put together this issue showcasing FLW Outdoors’ plans for their new tourney season. That’s one case where you’ll want to bring in the big ones!
LAVISH SPLASH
As a professional in the luxury realm, I must commend Wave on taking boating to the next level. I’ve frequently seen you guys out on the water on your boat and must say you have quite the posse. Elegant models and magazines are always adorning your bow and the WaveLife.com wrap is unforgettable. The drones gravitate to you anytime you’re out. It always amazes me the number of boats that want to dock up to you, sometimes racing to get to you first to join in your festivities and limelight. I hope we, too, will be dock-up partners soon.

Lavish Living
Editor’s Response: Clayton, without a doubt, we should hang out on the water sometime. From the looks of this photo, it looks like you guys have a lot of fun out there, too! Thanks for the compliments and I’ll make sure to let our models know you appreciate them aboard. In the meantime, check out our main feature this issue entitled “Bringing Boating Back.” It will direct you toward organizations, individuals and initiatives that are making the time spent out on the water more enjoyable. Some of the nautical virtual communities of boaters that have been created recently by industry visionaries will yield a lot of great friends that share your passion for the sport — and take advantage of it on a weekly basis.
BOATING FUN
I just wanted to thank you for the great time I had out on the Wave boat a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for welcoming my friends and I aboard with open arms. You guys are very popular out there and I’m glad you introduced me to some fellow boaters. Your captain is a very cool guy and I had a blast with him and his awesome wife as well as the other guests aboard from the Tampa area. Can’t wait until our next outing together!
– Chris Hamilton
Wave Rider
Editor’s Response: Chris, I’m glad you could join us! I will be sending you a CD of the entire day soon for you to choose your favorite shots. Our captain, Bill Lindsey, and his wife and co-skipper, Sandy Lindsey, also serve as our editor-at-large and senior editor, respectfully. Our excursion actually inspired two articles this issue: “Once Upon a Sunshine State” and “Bringing Boating Back,” the latter authored by the captain himself. Start resting up: Our next major nautical adventure is just a few weeks away!
