Letters to the Editor

INDUSTRY ICON
Until now, I’ve never before written to any magazine that I’ve read complimenting them on their overall content and/or enjoyment of reading their magazine. In the case of    Wave, I can’t begin to tell you how refreshing it is, in today’s world of the boring print media, to be able to actually find a magazine like    Wave that isn’t a “me too, copy cat, old news publication.” I believe that  Wave’s cutting-edge adventurous articles and incredible photographs have really broken the mold through all marine and boating magazines presently being published. Keep up the good work and keep reaching beyond the obvious. My congratulations to everyone at  Wave for a great magazine.

Editor’s Response: Irwin, you don’t know what it means for me to hear this glowing review from you. It makes all the hard work and long deadline nights worth it. I am printing your letter out and framing it in my office. You are a true inspiration and I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying Wave and hope you enjoy our recently-acquired sister publication, International Yachtsman, as well. Looking forward to seeing you at FLIBS and at Genmar launches and at the series of rendezvous, mansion parties and soirees we’re hosting throughout the year!

FISHING FUN
We in Ecuador love Wave! The photography is spectacular and your fishing coverage in “Hooked” and the “Docktails” is world-class, just like some of the catches you showcase. Here’s a photo of me with a 25-pound robalo I recently caught off the coast of Cojimíes, Provincia de Manabí.

Editor’s Response: Glad to hear you like our photography! We’ve just won an award for “Best Overall Use of Photography” from the Florida Magazine Association and are awaiting the results from various other national awards including “Best Cover” and “Best Magazine.” Fingers crossed!

BIMINI BOOM
My family had a wonderful time at the Divers Direct Treasure Hunt in South Bimini as we ventured by sea and by land discovering the Fountain of Youth and learning about sharks at the University of Miami Shark Lab! The “dive-in” movies at night were awesome and a great way to interact with other boaters.

Editor’s Response: I’m glad you joined the Wave event we hosted at Bimini Sands this year and hope that you venture out even further to our next event at Treasure Cay. We’re also hosting our much-anticipated Renaissance Rendezvous at the revamped Vinoy in Tampa on Labor Day weekend. Hope to see you there!

WAVE MOMENTS
My husband and I travel in the Bahamas regularly with friends; sometimes it’s two boats, sometimes four or five. Often we go to Bimini Bay or Old Bahama Bay, but sometimes we take extra time and do the Abacos. We meet the most fascinating, salty, engaging Bahamians! They tell island stories that keep you there half the night! Island moments happen much in the style of Wave: a perfect balance of variety, enchantment and excitement! My island adventures start with physical activities like yoga on the beach, playing in or on the ocean midday, either fishing or snorkeling, and indulging in cocktails and festivity wherever the action leads me in the evening! I know first-hand why your “What Happens on the Boat, Stays on the Boat” section was created!

Editor’s Response: I checked out your website at AmericanYoga.net and was really impressed. You’ve got to be in shape to keep up with the parties we’re producing and all the fun you’re having in the Bahamas! Go to    WaveLife.com to see a list of our upcoming rendezvous, events, soirees and tournaments. Hope to see you out there!
