If you didn’t make the first leg of Pirate Pete’s multi-island Treasure Hunt in Bimini Sands, Bahamas, last month, you missed out on more than just submerged golden finds. Besides scores of buried treasures, the weekend-long event, sponsored by The Islands of the Bahamas and Divers Direct, featured Bahamian goulash breakfasts, snorkeling, diving, endless libations and nightly “dive-in” film screenings for the kids. More than 100 boats and 500 participants were on-site partaking in the thrills offered at Bimini Sands including The Fountain of Youth, Bimini Beach Club and The Shark Lab. Hundreds jumped in for their try at finding some of several treasures hidden both on land and underwater. In the end, participants walked away with gold coins, jewelry, dive watches and other nautical surprises that made up the massive booty.

Understanding that you might be regretting not having attended the first leg of the hunt, Pirate Pete and his crew are offering one more chance to find some Caribbean treasure during the Summer 2007 Pirate Pete’s Treasure Hunt series. The last hunt will take place at Treasure Cay Hotel, Resort and Marina from Aug. 9-12. If you can’t find a treasure there, you can’t find it anywhere.
