TODAY’S TIDE CALLING! TIME TO GET OUT THERE
VERIZON TIDE TABLES “Time and tide wait for no man,” the
philosopher said and you’ve been waiting for that very specific time
when the tide changes to bring in the big feeder. The time has to be
right. The bait is fresh and ready. Your cell phone rings but,
thankfully, it’s just the one ring you’ve been waiting for. The office
calling? Not this time. This time it is Verizon Wireless’s Get It Now
Tide Alert. Aquick call brings the confirmation you need with a full
color display Tide Graph. Using ekkosoft.us software, Verizon offers
this new service to all its Get It Now customers using the National
Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) tide prediction to
graphically show you all the important times for your fishing or
boating day off.
At a glance, you can see today’s times for sunrise, sunset, high and
low tides for your specific coastal area along with the phase of the
moon. Vital information for the sport fisherman. Oh yeah. In case you
want to stay off that sandbar that you might accidentally spend the
next few hours stranded on, it’s nice to know when the tide is going to
change as well. Talk to your Verizon dealer about Get It Now services
and Tide Alert or get information at www.Verizonwireless.com/getitnow.
BEVERAGE CONTAINER FOR SPORTSMAN ON THE GO
LIQUID CADDY
Whether you are out for a day of fishing, diving, water skiing, or on
that long planned round the world cruise, there is one absolute:
Whether it’s a morning cup of coffee, a soft drink or beer celebrating
the first catch of the day, or a little tot before returning to port,
that drink is important. The problem then becomes where do I put it
when I hook the big one or need to maneuver the boat? You may have a
cup holder in the rail or next to the boat’s controls but wait. Will it
hold that coffee cup or the all day beverage container? And, when the
boat is rocking in a swell or twisting to return to that great fishing
spot, is the drink still in the cup or has it all splashed out on the
deck or over the side? Well, never fear. The Liquid Caddy can hold any
container up to a 24 ounce bottle, can be connected to virtually any
surface in the perfect location, and stays upright in every situation.
The device is connected permanently using screws but may also be
positioned using a Velcro strap. The drinks are also held firmly in
place by straps. Set on gimbals, the drink holder keeps your liquid in
the container no matter what the boat is doing. Thanks to the Liquid
Caddy’s portability, it’s not even limited to the boat. Take it along
to your house’s deck, your friend’s boat, or the next golf outing. You
can find the Liquid Caddy at www.boatshowproducts.com.
QUICK, EASY WAY TO WEIGHT, RELEASE FISH
LIPPER TOOLS Scientists tell us now that the old saying,
“There is always another fish in the sea,” isn’t necessarily true.
That’s particularly true if you are talking about a specific type of
fish in your favorite fishing area. The obvious answer is to catch and
release. Catch and release doesn’t mean that you don’t want to get that
priceless picture and have an idea of how big it was so you can make
those important comparisons with your friends. Lipper Tools has
provided the answer. This tool carefully attaches to the fish’s lower
jaw to hold and accurately weigh it in pounds or kilograms before it is
easily unclipped and returned to the deep. The tool is ready for the
hardships at sea with a slip resistant handle and stainless steel works
unaffected by salt water. Check it out at www.lippertools.com.
NO JOKE: DON’T BE CAUGHT DEAD WITHOUT ONE
PHILIPS HEARTSTART HOME DEFIBRILLATOR
If you’ve ever watched a television medical show, you’ve seen doctors
applying the paddles to someone’s chest, yelling “clear,” and
triggering a life saving dose of electricity to bring normal heart
activity back to a dying patient. Too many of us have experienced this
life saving technique. When you are miles offshore on your boat, those
emergency room doctors are far away. Much too far away to matter. Many
of us have heard that airlines, airports, and many offices have
purchased a smaller but very effective version of the defibrillator for
emergency use. Now the same piece of equipment is available, with a
prescription, for the general public. Simple to use, Philips Medical
Systems offers a hardback book size defibrillator that tells the user
when it is properly attached and ready. More important, it also senses
whether the technique is even required since inappropriately applied
shocks can do more damage than help. Since we all want to continue our
normal activities, including those great, relaxing fishing trips, a
little precaution to save your life is necessary. At the very least,
knowing someone could do something -- if the worst happened -- could
provide considerable peace of mind. And, peace of mind is what that
deep sea fishing trip is all about. Look at www.HeartStartHome.com for
the Philips defibrillator information. You can also call 866-defibhome.
COMPANIES DEVELOP DOG LADDER/PLATFORM
PAWS ABOARD
DIVE-N-DO You have to get away from the office. It’s nice to
give mom a break while you head to sea. If you have to hear the kids
watching the latest Disney movie one more time you’re going to start
screaming. Aday on the boat saves you all. But you’d never think of
leaving Rover on shore. After all, he’s your first mate. He loves that
swim out in the swells just as much as you do. But as any of us knows
from this experience, getting him to chase a stick off the side of the
boat is a lot easier than trying to get him back inside. That 50 pound
Spaniel is suddenly a very heavy, water soaked dog. Worse, the water
and the dog are off the side a couple of feet.
Even with a dive platform or ladder, it can still be a considerable
project to get him back into the boat. He’s just not built for climbing
vertical ladders or even scrambling onto the dive platform. Two
companies have come up with the solutions. Paws Aboard offers a ladder
that extends from the boat’s side at an angle and with shorter,
dog-styled steps. The ladder can not only be used in deep water but
from a dock, another boat, or into a small boat in fresh water (for
that duck hunting trip, you know). Look at what they offer at
www.pawsaboard.com. Another alternative comes from Dive-N-Dog. Their
idea is to lower the dive platform below the water level so either man
or dog can get onto it more easily. From there, the dog can shake all
that water off and make the jump back into the boat. Try these folks at
www.divendog.com.
