Every business should feature at least one unique selling proposition that helps make its products or services stand out. When Langer-Krell Marine Electronics was established in 1965, the company had an idea that would set them apart. If they could provide service beyond expectations while executing flawless electronics installations, their reputation would perpetually precede them. The company represents products from all major marine electronics manufacturers and executes consultative custom installations on any size boat.
Anyone in South Florida can find a dealer that can install marine electronics in their brand new or used boat. However, according to operations manager Bobby Krell, the level and types of services that comes standard to Langer-Krell's business model is unparalleled in the industry. First, he says, the sales staff believes that experience translates into superior knowledge. All staff members are experienced boaters with all knowledge being derived from actual application. Actual application experience is as important in positions like commercial airline pilots as it is with marine electronics representatives. Who wants to get stranded at sea or experience a system short circuit in a bad storm?
The first service procedure a customer goes through at Langer-Krell Marine Electronics is receiving a proposal. This potential customer expresses his or her actual needs and particular situation. Based on the information provided by each particular boater, an expert representative will suggest and propose a plan of action tailored to each customer. The customer is given a cost estimate followed by a list of products to be included that is part of the turnkey operation, which includes all incidental costs and exclusions. This is important, because Krell believes that customers should, know exactly what they are getting before the work begins.
Boat owners can rest assured, says Krell, because when work begins on their boat, whether on site or at their dock, a general liability policy is in place to protect the boat owners and installers.
Installation includes heat shrinking every connection, integrating electronics to speak to each other and custom panel design to refit new instruments. Anybody can install multiple electronics as a service, says Krell, but not everybody can get their radar and autopilot configured to work together properly. Many problems can arise when complex electronics are not installed by highly trained technicians. Almost 90 percent of emergency distress signals are non-functional, because they were never linked up to the GPS, says Krell, providing a striking example.
The greatest part about the installation process is when it is completed. Asea trial is conducted to brief the customer on operations and capabilities of the new system. In addition to sea trial training, Langer-Krell will continue any necessary training and all servicing for two years. Customers receive unlimited service calls at their home or boat during the manufacturer's warranty. The FCC and NMEA certified technicians are factory certified to repair every brand of product Langer-Krell carries.
